Sometimes, the people in the colony don’t want us there. We then may have to put down rebellions in these places. Sometimes, local traditions or ways of life are destroyed when a colony is established. This could give Americans a negative reputation in the eyes of the world, especially if we are in a place where we aren’t wanted. Finally, we have to protect these colonies in case of war or threat of attack.
